Problem 1
A professor is interested in comparing the characteristics of students that vote compared to students that do not vote in elections. She decided to compare the CPA (grades) of students. For a random sample of 115 students that reported they had voted in the previous elections, she found a mean CPA of 2.78 and a standard deviation of 0.56. For an independent sample of 123 students who had not voted, she found a mean CPA of 2.74 and a standard deviation of 0.63. Test at the 5% level of significance if in general, the mean CPA of students who vote is higher than the CPA of students that do not vote.
